Psalm 111 starts off, “Praise the Lord! I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his godly people. 2How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them.” Psalm 111:1-2 (NLT) I do thank the Lord and praise Him for all He is doing here at Fourth Street. This past year has been another year where we have seen our Lord do many amazing deeds in and through our church family. He continues to challenge us to grow as we seek to know Him better and to make Him known to others.
On Sunday’s we started our fiscal year out by taking an in depth look at the peace that God offers us when we have a relationship with Him in a series called “Got Peace.” In January, we spent our time looking at how the Bible answers some of the “Tough Questions” we face in everyday life. After that, leading up to Easter, our focus was on the major “Themes of the New Testament.” Next, we studied “The Fruit of The Spirit” and how we should be displaying that fruit in our day to day life. Then we finished up the year with a series on some “Building Blocks” for a solid life.
Once again this year, “Church in the Park,” was a major highlight. God blessed us with perfect weather and we had a great time together. As always, this event provides an awesome opportunity for many of us to invite our unchurched friends and family to join with us in the park for worship and some of the best BBQ tri-tip around.
As a church family we want to continue to reach outside the walls of our building to serve our community. This past year, we spent time doing maintenance along the Fresno River Bike/ Walk Trail and in August we hosted a Neighborhood Watch – National Night Out event.
On a district level, I continue to serve on the Credentials Committee for the Central California District of the Church of God. The Credentials Committee is responsible for credentialing and accountability of ministers and congregations within our district.
Also, this year, I began volunteering to serve as a Police Chaplain with the Madera Police Department. This is something new for me and I am finding it very rewarding.
This past year was an eventful year, but I believe that it is only a foreshadowing of what God has in store for us in the coming year as we continue to follow Him and allow Him to teach us to DRAW people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; to DEVELOP believers into fully devoted followers of Jesus; and to DEMOSTRATE the power of Christ’s love to the community of Madera and around the world.
Peace and Blessing,
