I was recently asked by a mentor of mine to respond to the question, “What is the good news God is speaking over me and how I am going to respond to it?” After spend some time reflecting on that, I would like to share with you what I believe God has shown me in Psalm 23.
The Lord is my shepherd: God is always watching over me. He is my ever present Provider and Protector.
I shall not be in want: Knowing that God is always there, I can trust Him to provide for all of my physical needs.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters: He is there to provide for all my emotional needs. God offers His peace to me, a peace that I cannot fully comprehend or explain, but can experience and enjoy.
He restores my soul: God will provide for all my spiritual needs. I can trust Him to equip me for whatever the task is that He has for me.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake: Since I can trust in God to provide for my every need, I can trust in His leadership in every area of my life.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me: Even during the most difficult of times of life I can rely on God to see me through. He is the one who will defend me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: Even in the heat of the battle, when my enemies are attacking me or my family, I can relax and know that I have no need to be anxious because my God, my Protector and Provider is watching over me and my family.
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
