Preparing for a New Year

Preparing for A New YearHere we are getting ready to start a New Year. 2015 is gone and 2016 just ahead. As we get start a New Year, I want to challenge you to make a commitment right now to make 2016 a year where you will do what you need to do to grow closer to God. To make a commitment to do the things that Jesus did, to commune with the Father on a regular and constant basis so that when you’re put to the test you will do what Jesus did.

I have a sticky note on my commuter that is a quote I read somewhere that says, “What is it that a year from now that I will wish that I had started today.” Reading that challenges me to ask myself, “Where do I want to be in my relationship with God a year from now?” Ask yourself that question, “Where do you want to be in your relationship with God a year from now?” And with that in mind, ask yourself another question, “What is it that I should be doing today that that will encourage growth in my relationship with God?”

This month we’re in a new message series that I’m calling “Preparing for A New Year.” My prayer is that I will challenge you to look at your life and evaluate the choices you make in light of your relationship with God, to ask yourself, “What is it that God would have me do in this situation?”

In this series we’re going to be studying how God made us to make a difference in the world. We will be looking at how we act and how the choices we make have an influence those around us. Jesus tells us in the Sermon on the Mount to, “Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:16 (NLT)

When we do what Jesus would do, and those around us see our actions, our Heavenly Father will receive the praise, glory and honor He is do. So together, let’s make 2016 a year that we all grow closer to our Heavenly Father and bring Him the praise, glory and honor He is do.

Have a Blessed New Year
