This month we are going into a church wide spiritual growth campaign titled “Transformed.” The materials and resources that we will be using have been developed by Saddleback Resources. In this campaign we will be focusing on Romans 12:2; “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” We will explore how to apply this verse in seven essential areas of our lives. Those areas include our Spiritual Health, Physical Health, Mental Health, Emotional Health, Relational Health, Financial Health and our Vocational Health.
In our world today, it seems like everywhere you look you see someone, or some new book, that offers us the answers we’re looking for to the struggles we face in life and explanations to our search for meaning. But the world’s promises leave us empty and searching for more. God’s Word is the only answer that promises to transform our lives. And that transformation happens from the inside out.
The truth is, the way you think determines the way you feel. And the way you feel determines the way you act. If you want to change something in your life that you don’t like, if you want to see transformation in that area of your life, you don’t start with your actions, or even with your feelings. You start with your thoughts. When you can change the way you think, that will change the way you feel. And if you change the way you feel, that will change the way you act.
We are going to take this principle from Romans 12:2 and apply it to all seven of these key areas of your life. And we’re going to look at “How do I change the way I think about this so that I will feel differently about it. Because, if I feel differently it’s going to change the way I act and the way I respond to other people.”
On February 1st, we will be introducing the campaign in our Sunday morning service. Then on February 8th, we will actually launch into the campaign. During that week, we make the book/journal that has daily readings and questions to challenge you on a personal level available. Also during that week, many of our small groups will begin the small group study that accompanies what we will be reading and hearing about on Sundays. I want to encourage you, if you are not already involved in a small group, let us know and we do what we can to get you plugged into one.
I am excited to see where it is that God takes us as a church family as we go through this together!
Peace and Blessing,
