Happy 2015!!

I pray that this New Year brings you many new opportunities to enjoy the blessings God has given you.
Our month of January gets its’ name from the Roman god, Janus, who had 2 faces–one for looking backward and reflecting upon the past; the highs and lows, the good and the bad. But the other face was for looking forward to the New Year, with its’ opportunities, potential, and possibilities. So we too, as Christians, should do the same — praising God for what He has done this past year, but praising Him as well for the “clean slate” He has given us and the endless opportunities for serving Him and others in the year ahead!

So as we enter into a New Year, I want to encourage you to evaluate how you spend your time. Do you realize that if you make it all the way through this next year, you will have 525,600 minutes to spend on doing something? Those minutes are much more than ticks on a clock, they represent you life. How are you going to spend them? How are you going to spend the time God gives you in this New Year?

As you think about that question, here is a verse from the Bible I want you to also think about. This is from Paul’s letter to the Colossians; “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.” Colossians 4:5 (NLT)

That would be a great New Year’s resolution for all of us to make. As we enter this New Year, let’s be careful how we live. May we not waste our time, but live wisely and make the most of every opportunity that God gives us in the year ahead. So, I want to encourage you to tuck this verse into your heart and ask God to help you live it out in this coming year.

Peace and Blessing,

Pastor Mike
