Psalm 111 starts off, “Praise the Lord! I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his godly people. 2How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them.” Psalm 111:1-2 (NLT) I do thank the Lord and praise Him for all He is doing here at Fourth Street. This past year has been another year where we have seen our Lord do many amazing deeds in and through our church family. He continues to challenge us and causes us to grow as we seek to know Him better and to make Him known to others. As you take the time to read through the reports from the various ministries of our church family you will see how He has been using this body of ours to reach out to touch others in and around our community.
On Sunday’s we started our year out by looking at “How Great is our God.” In January, we spent our time focusing on “Knowing God’s Will.” In February and March we were challenged as a church family to not to be satisfied with being just a fan of God but to be true followers of Him. Leading up to Easter we spent our time looking at “The Power of a Fully Committed Life.” Then on Easter we began a short series that looked at where “Real Life” comes from. Following that, we took the time to study the different aspects of love that are listed in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Then the last series we did was studying our role and responsibilities as “An Apprentice of Jesus.”
A major highlight of the year for me was our “Church in the Park.” We had a great time together and what an awesome opportunity for many of us to invite our unchurched friends and family to join us in the park for worship and some very good BBQ. I believe God has planted some seeds and I expect to see a great harvest from our time there.
As a church family we continue to reach outside the walls of our building and serve our community by cleaning up and doing some light maintenance on the Bike Trail that follows the Fresno River bed. Our ongoing service along the trail has been recognized by the Madera Parks and Rec. Dept. who acknowledged Fourth Street before the City Council this past spring.
This past year has seen some changes to our staff. We said farewell to Pat Kilby and welcomed Paula Wilson as our Associate Pastor of Family Ministries.
Personally, I continue to serve on the Executive Council for the Central California District of the Church of God as Vice-Chair. The counsel helps to oversee the ministries of The Church of God in central California. Also, this past year I was able to attend the “Thrive Conference” for church leaders in Sacramento.
This past year has been a full year and I believe that God continues to bless us as we continue to seek Him. My prayer is that we would all be prepared to receive what He has for us, and that we would be good stewards of all He has entrusted to us. Join with me in prayer as we seek God’s plan for this next year and the years beyond.
Peace and Blessing,
